Disability Community Involvement

As a caregiver for my mostly nonverbal Autistic brother, I remain deeply embedded within the disability community and committed to being a voice for those who may not have one.

In 2020, I performed Santa Visits in collaboration with the disability community and expanded to 6 neighborhoods in 2021.

Addressing Food Insecurity

According to the USDA more than 38 million people, including 12 million children, in the United States are food insecure. The pandemic has absolutely increased food insecurity in our communities.

In response to this increased need, our campaign committee launched a community service action project called, “Trick-or-Treat so Delaware Can Eat”.

We passed out food donation bags in various neighborhoods through the 26th District in October. With the enthusiastic support of DE-26 constituents, we collected 250+ donations and dedicated our efforts to benefit the Friendship House of Delaware in Newark — an organization that strives to fill gaps in New Castle County for those who are houseless, homeless, and searching for a way home.

I remain dedicated to the notion that no one should be forced to choose between food and other crucial needs. I will continue to support our neighbors devastated by the pandemic, especially communities that are disproportionately impacted by hunger. Due to overwhelming community interest, we look forward to making this a statewide action project in the future.
